General July Newsletter 2022
Sign-up for ServiceOntario Digital Reminders
You’ve probably heard that the Ontario government removed license plate renewal fees back in March, but did you know they also eliminated paper reminders for upcoming renewals?
That’s right! As of February 28th, you will no longer receive notice when your driver’s license, health card, or license plate needs to be renewed. Worried about how to keep track of these renewals? The Government of Ontario now allows you to enroll for phone, email, or text reminders by signing-up for their digital reminders. You can enroll here.
Don’t forget: Your license plates still need to be renewed every 1 to 2 years (depending on what frequency you selected), despite there being no cost for renewal now. For more information, read our latest blog.

What Makes a Vehicle a Total Loss?
Car accidents can range from your casual “fender bender” to major head-on collisions. You can walk off the scene with your vehicle needing a few dents buffed out or having your insurance company deem your vehicle a “total loss.”
What’s a total loss and why are they happening more often? We explain in this blog.

July’s Defender Spotlight – Kellie Round
July’s Defender Spotlight shines on Kellie Round in our Exeter office!
Kellie has been with the Excalibur team for almost six years now. Since then, in her role as a Director of First Impressions, we’ve come to describe her as a “rockstar.”
Her ability to multi-task is awe-inspiring. From answering the phones, assisting brokers with policy changes, contacting insurance companies on behalf of clients, pulling MVRs, or emailing new account set-up information, Kellie keeps all our offices running smoothly.
In fact, before switching to Quandri’s robotic process automation earlier this year, Kellie did the work of two A.I. robots by managing the downloads for our entire organization. She would pour herself a morning cup of coffee and then process hundreds of documents daily.
Kellie is also the go-to person for many operations questions. Not sure when a policy document will download? Kellie knows! Wondering when the water guy comes or how to order service for a printer? Kellie knows!
Thank you for being such a valuable member of our team, Kellie!
Read to Ride Program Wrap-up
22 students. 16 weeks. 1,572 hours of reading. 315 ballots collected. 50 reading levels advanced. 3 pizza parties. 2 new bikes given away.
We’re thrilled that our first-time running the Read to Ride program was such a huge success!
We couldn’t have done it without the support of their teacher, Mrs. Jordanna Logan! She commented that her 3/4 class achieved more improvement in their reading skills in just 4-months than she normally sees in a whole school year. It was wonderful to hear how motivated the students were!
Thanks again to 360 Bikes ‘n Boards in Goderich, who hosted the giveaway and co-sponsored the Read to Ride program.
If you are a 3rd or 4th-grade teacher in Ontario, you can nominate your class for a chance to participate in Read to Ride in the future.
