Free Resources to Foster a Passion for Reading!
Teachers shoulder a great responsibility in shaping young minds. For that reason, Excalibur Insurance created the Read to Ride program to help teachers encourage their students in developing a lifelong love of reading.

Local School Partners who’ve tried ‘Read to Ride’ & been rewarded

The Read to Ride program encourages students to complete 5 hours of reading each week, whether at school or at home. For every 5 hours of reading completed, the student will receive an entry ballot into the grand prize draw for one of two new bikes! The more each student reads, the more chances they have to win!
Additionally, for every 500 hours the class collectively reads, they are awarded a pizza party. The program runs once per school year; for a 12 week period in the winter.

Hear Ye – Hear Ye!
If you are a 3rd or 4th-grade teacher in the great land of Ontario, we need your assistance.
Our Read to Ride program is an excellent way to encourage your student’s reading progress and reward their achievements. We simply need you to enroll your class in the program. Please fill out the application below. We’re happy to accommodate split classes as well.

Until the end of third grade, children are learning to read. After third grade, children read to learn. Without a strong foundation as an independent reader, children may face struggles throughout their academic studies and beyond. Through the Read to Ride program, we can help children sharpen their reading skills by encouraging regular practice with fun incentives (ballots, pizza parties, new bikes) along the way.
How it Works
The Excalibur Insurance Group strongly believes in the power of reading, and we hope this program will help children develop more confidence in their reading skills and themselves. Luckily for us we’ve got to see the program in action and witness the engagement and excitement along the way.

What happened?
Well, not so long ago, the Excalibur Insurance team had the idea for ‘Artie the Good Knight.’ A book to inspire people (especially youth) to rise to the challenge and be the best version of themselves.
