Tag Tracking for High-Theft Vehicles

Did you know that, in Canada, roughly 60% of stolen vehicles are recovered by police? The remaining vehicles are typically scrapped for parts, shipped overseas, or resold to unsuspecting customers. Unfortunately, Canada sees some of the highest rates of auto theft, and it’s costing auto insurance policyholders – big time.

That’s why many insurance companies are beginning to mandate the installation of a Tag Tracking device in vehicles that they deem high-theft risks.

You can learn more about Tag Tracking in our latest blog.

Welcome to the Team, Kyla Kennedy!

We want to introduce the newest member of our team: Kyla Kennedy!

Kyla joins our team with 13 years of experience in the insurance industry. She will be working as a Commercial Lines Account Manager, helping clients with policy changes, renewals, and new lines of business.

Kyla and fellow Commercial Lines Account Manager, Darlene McCowan, will assist with the transition of our Commercial Business Department, as Cathi Cullen retires after 46 years (read more about that in our Defender Spotlight below).

Top 5 Cheapest SUVs to Insure

Sport utility vehicles (SUVs) are becoming increasingly popular in Canada due to their added space, higher ride height, larger seating capacity, and better fuel efficiency than sedans.

But are SUVs cheaper to insure than sedans? What factors affect insurance rates for an SUV? What are the cheapest SUVs to insure?

We answer those questions and more in our blog.

Insurance Partner Spotlight: Gore Mutual

Welcome back to our “Insurance Partner Spotlight,” a new segment in our newsletter that will feature our company partners! Since we work with over 40 of Canada’s Top Insurers, our goal is for our clients to better understand the options and speciality products that we have available for them.

This month’s spotlight is on Gore Mutual Insurance Company.

In 1839, Gore Mutual wrote its first insurance policy in Brantford, Ontario. Although they are Canada’s oldest property and casualty insurer, Gore Mutual has continuously evolved – adopting new technology and insurance coverage solutions. Gore Mutual’s foundation of financial strength has withstood over 180 years in the industry thanks to its ability to continually revitalize its business model while still holding true to its initial values and reflecting its ambition to scale as a national insurer driven by a sole purpose to deliver outstanding insurance products.

August’s Defender Spotlight: Cathi Cullen

August’s Defender Spotlight shines on Cathi Cullen in our Clinton office!

After 46 years working at Excalibur Insurance, our beloved Commercial Lines Account Manager, Cathi Cullen, will be retiring in the fall.

In 1977, back when we were still P. A. Roy Insurance Brokers, Cathi was hired by Peter Roy to work as a Personal Lines Account Manager. At the time, Peter’s son and our current CEO, Jeff Roy, was just 7 years old.

Cathi is our go-to person for all things Farm and Commercial Business, and has been working in that department for about 16 years now.

Cathi Cullen is truly the heart of the Clinton office. Each day she comes to work with her great sense of humour, endless generosity, and warm, caring personality.

Congratulations, Cathi, on your retirement! Our team and clients are so fortunate to know you.

Cathi’s retirement party will take place on Friday, September 29 at the Huron Fish and Game Club in Clinton. More details will be provided in next month’s newsletter.
