Are Electric Vehicles More Cost-Friendly Than Gas Powered?

Are Electric Vehicles More Cost Friendly than Gas Powered? With exponentially rising gas prices (we know you’ve seen them), we couldn’t help but wonder – are electric vehicles more cost-friendly than gas-powered alternatives?

We try to answer that question in our latest blog, while also explaining the difference between battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).

Updates to our Website

We’ve made updates to our website!

After launching our new brand ambassador, “The Good Knight,” last year, we decided it was time to change the Excalibur Insurance website.

You can check out the new design here. Let us know what you think!

We’ve updated Our Client Referral Program

We've made changes to our referral program

Back in 2017, we launched our Referral Program to thank clients for referring their friends and family to our brokerage. Recently, we decided it was time for a refresh, so we’ve changed the rewards system.

Now, every time you refer a friend to Excalibur Insurance, and they get a quote; you receive a $20 Tim Hortons gift card. PLUS, you’re entered in our monthly draw for $100, AND our annual draw for a $2,500 grand prize.

You can refer a friend here.

New in Insurance Fraud: Re-Vinning Vehicles

New in Insurance Fraud: Re-Vinning Vehicles There’s a new trend in the insurance fraud game!

Re-Vinning Vehicles: when thieves re-sell stolen cars that feature seemingly legitimate VINs. The victims of re-vinning will pay money for a vehicle, but won’t ever get that money back. Unfortunately, once the vehicle has been determined “stolen” and is seized by law enforcement, you’ll be in the hole for that money and without a car.

Read our blog to learn how re-vinning works and tips to avoid buying a re-vinned vehicle.

Introducing The “Read to Ride” Program

Read to Ride Program: Enjoy the Journey - Wherever it takes you Last month, we launched our Read to Ride program.

We first had the idea five years ago to create a program in local schools that would encourage young children to read.

With the help of the Goderich Public School’s grade 3/4 class, taught by Ms. Jordanna Logan, we’re excited to see the program finally launch.

Each week, the students in Ms. Logan’s class are encouraged to complete 5 hours of reading, whether at school or at home. For every 5 hours of reading completed, the student will receive an entry ballot into a draw for two new bikes! The more each student reads, the more chances they have to win!

Additionally, for every 500 hours the class collectively reads, they are awarded a pizza party.

The program is running from February 1st to June 1st, and we hope to roll it out into additional schools in the fall. Ultimately, we hope the Read to Ride program helps children develop more confidence in their reading skills and themselves.

Follow our FacebookTwitter, or Instagram for more updates about the class!

Cathi Celebrates 45 Years at Excalibur

On February 1st, Cathi Cullen in our Clinton office celebrated 45 years of working at Excalibur Insurance!

In 1977, back when we were still P. A. Roy Insurance Brokers, Cathi was hired by Peter Roy to work as a Personal Lines Account Manager. At the time, Peter’s son and our current CEO, Jeff Roy, was just 7 years old.

Cathi is our go-to person for all things Farm and Commercial, and has been working in that department for about 15 years now.

Cathi Cullen is truly the heart of the Clinton office. Each day she comes to work with her great sense of humour, endless generosity, and warm, caring personality.

Congratulations, Cathi, on this major milestone! Our team and clients are so fortunate to know you.

It’s Jersey Day for Caroline Mercer

It's Jersey Day for Caroline Mercer You’ve probably heard us mention Excalibur Jersey Day before.

It’s tradition that when a new staff member reaches their three-month milestone, we host a Jersey Day to award them with their official Excalibur hockey jersey (what’s more Canadian than that?).

Each Excalibur jersey features the team member’s last name on the back and the last two digits of the year they joined our team.

Caroline Mercer is the newest Excalibur teammate to receive her jersey.

Congratulations Caroline!

TV Winner – John & Jennifer Valentino

Quarterly Referral Program Winner Did you hear? We’ve updated our Referral Program!

Now instead of doing a quarterly draw for a 50-inch smart TV, we’re doing an annual draw for a $2,500 grand prize package.

John and Jennifer Valentino were one of the last quarterly TV draw winners. Thanks for referring a friend to Excalibur Insurance, John and Jennifer.

March’s Defender Spotlight – Janet Cameron

Defender Spotlight: Janet Cameron March’s Defender Spotlight shines on Janet Cameron in our Clinton office!

Janet has been part of the Excalibur team for 6 years, but she has worked in the insurance industry for almost 40. In fact, Janet sold our VP of Marketing, Paul Wettlaufer, his first auto policy when he was 20 years old!

Janet’s knowledge and guidance are valuable resources for our staff and clients. Janet is always keen to help others who have questions. Despite nearly 40 years in insurance, she still shows enthusiasm for continuous industry learning.

Thank you, Janet, for contributing your vibrant and supportive personality to our team!
