Auto repairs are taking 65% longer. Can your coverage keep up?
Covid has had a rippling impact on all aspects of our lives. Delays, closures, and price increases have become normal talking points in our day-to-day lives. In the insurance industry, we’ve seen increased wait times for vehicle repairs after accidents. Couple that with rental vehicle shortages and minimal inventory in car lots, and we’re starting to see it impact our clients’ loss-of-use limits.
What is loss-of-use coverage, and is your limit enough in today’s marketplace, where repair wait times are up 65% year-over-year?
Many people don’t know that if they were in a car accident today, their auto policy will only pay-out the market value of their vehicle at the time of the loss. That’s right, even if you purchased your vehicle a few months ago, your insurance payout may be a depreciated value.
Excalibur Insurance is proud to be part of a select group of brokers licensed to sell Optiom Insurance: a unique coverage that insures your new vehicle for its purchase price for up to 7-years OR your used vehicle for its purchase price for up to 5-years.
We hope back to school went well for all of the families out there!
Attention Grade 3 or 4 Teachers: There’s still time left to apply to our Read to Ride program for Winter 2023.
We will be selecting 3 classrooms in Ontario to participate in Read to Ride. We launched our Read to Ride program earlier this year with the goal of helping children sharpen their reading skills by encouraging regular practice with fun incentives (ballots, pizza parties, new bikes) along the way.
Ultimately, we hope the Read to Ride program helps children develop more confidence in their reading skills and themselves.
You can apply here. Submissions for Read to Ride Winter 2023 close on Friday, October 14, 2022.

It’s Jersey Day for Sarah & Stacy
Last month, Sarah Gingerich and Stacy Smith reached their three-month milestone with Excalibur Insurance. To celebrate, we hosted another Excalibur Jersey Day!
You’ve probably heard us mention Excalibur Jersey Day before.
It’s tradition that when a new staff member reaches their three-month milestone, we host a Jersey Day to award them with their official Excalibur hockey jersey (what’s more Canadian than that?).
Each Excalibur jersey features the team member’s last name on the back and the last two digits of the year they joined our team.
Congratulations to you both!

September’s Defender Spotlight shines on Darlene McCowan in our Clinton office!
Darlene joined our commercial team in September 2021 and has been a fantastic addition!
She joined the insurance industry after a career in the non-profit world, which made this transition a significant change. But we’ve all quickly learned that Darlene approaches challenges with determination and confidence.
Her enthusiasm and eagerness to learn is infectious, making her an ideal fit for her Commercial Lines Support role because it’s a complex job requiring constant learning.
