How Fraud Affects the Cost of Insurance
Grandparent scams. Identity theft. Phony job postings. Calls about fake prize winnings.
There’s no doubt that fraud has only increased in today’s digital world.
To make matters worse, there is a direct correlation between economic downturns and increases in fraud. With many Canadians facing intense financial pressure following years of high inflation and price increases on everything from gas to flights to bread, fraud levels will likely continue to increase in 2024.
In our latest blog, we explain the impact fraud has on your auto insurance premiums.

Insurance Partner Spotlight: Optiom Insurance
Welcome back to our “Insurance Partner Spotlight,” a segment in our newsletter that features our company partners! Since we work with over 40 of Canada’s Top Insurers, our goal is for our clients to better understand the options and specialty products that we have available for them.
This month’s spotlight is on Optiom Insurance.
Optiom is unique because they only offer one product: total loss coverage! Optiom goes beyond “traditional” insurance and provides superior total loss coverage for your vehicle, whether it’s brand new, leased, or used.
With your average insurance policy, if your brand-new vehicle gets totaled in an accident, the insurance company will only pay you the value of the vehicle at the time of loss. Since most vehicles depreciate over time, sometimes the amount the insurance company pays you is actually less than what is left on your auto loan.
With Optiom, you get paid the value of your vehicle at the time of purchase, not the depreciated value. For as little as $25 a month, Optiom makes it simple to safeguard your family’s budget and ride after a write-off.
